03-03-2020: A four week training programme for the benefit of Science students begins in the college with an objective to train them for self employment in different fields of their choice and set up their own units under various Govt. schemes. In the training programme, about 25 students of B.Sc. Final year are participating and will be trained in coming days. In the inaugural, worthy Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Nutan Kumar Resutra was the chief guest. In his inaugural speech he said, “Inculcation, development, and polishing of entrepreneurial skills among students is needed to establish and successfully run an enterprise and to develop a person as entrepreneur training is important”. Sh. Binoy Kumar, Consultant J&K ITCO elaborated a detailed concept and objective of conducting the training programme for students. He informed that different speakers from various backgrounds shall be a part of this programme and will deliberate on specific technical topics related to the programme. In the first day, Sh. Kuldeep Singh from DIC Udhampur and Sh. Munish Gulati consultant delivered lectures in their respective fields. The proceeding of the programme was coordinated by Prof Gurvinder Raj Verma, Course coordinator & HOD Sericulture. The inaugural function was attended by Dr Udhey Bhanu, Principal, GDC Ramnagar, Dr Pankaj Sharma, Dr Bandana Mazal, Dr Rupali Sharma, Dr Mokshe Sajgotra and Raman Sharma.

International Conference on Water Conservation concludes at GDC Udhampur

“Fish in Haridwar area of Himalayas have been found with more toxic content than fish in Patna, as per a study conducted. Sinha, Vice Chancelor SMVDU, Katra, also known as Dolphin Man of India, remarked that the dire need is to understand the age-old sense and essence of coexistence and sacro-sancting the elements of nature, particularly water as its scarcity and depletion is telling on the disasters unimaginable but Imminent ” the Chief Guest discussed in detail about his work on Dolphins in Ganga basin as also the various conundrum felt and observed andf mitigated through traditional and modern ideas combined. He accentuated on realizing the “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” and give respect to nature to be Eco sensitive and eco-friendly and also adopt healthy old ways for respecting and conserving the natural water resources. In the three day Conference many an academicians, scholars and students from across the globe, nation region and the local institutes gathered and deliberated on problems, ways, means and ideas for conservation of water for continuation of life. Around three hundred papers were presented in different parallel sessions. Many a resource persons and famous world personalities related to the field of Water studies as also extraordinary genius viz. Padam Shree Chewang Norphel, the Glacier Man of India, Sh. Sonam Lotus, The Weather Man of J&K, Sh. Sham Sunder Pallival the father of Eco-feminism from village Piplantari, Rajastan. In the Plenary session Sh. Sham Sunder Pallival from Village Piplantary shared his experience how he conceived the idea plantation in memory of daughter and reviving of the water and ecology of the village which has led to his Village taking the task in … Changing the face of the Village from a barren land to an ecological diversity. His Village is now a global role model been adopted by Govt. of Rajasthan and also pursued by many a foreign nations. He put on record that all of us need to commit to our self for a cause and then make it a task of life. The Chief Guest and other Dignitaries also Planted Saplings of Cypres as a token of Green Initiative of the College. In the valedictory the Principal of the College Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra welcomed the Chief Guest all the dignitaries and talked in length about the conception to the implementation of the idea of the conference. It was followed by Cultural bonauza Viz. Nukkad on Jal Hai to Kal Hai presented by Shajji and other Artists from UT of J&K Information Department, Dogri Dance by Child Artrists of Dhoom Talent Club. Dogri & Bhangra fusion by NCC and NSS students of the College. Post this the dignitaries and organizing volunteers as also delegated were falicited with Mementoes and Certificate. The valedictory was attended by a glory of academicians, intellectuals, scholars, students as also the prominent members of civil Society. Ecological Park at GDC Udhampur thrown open

An Ecological Park sprawling in area of about 200 kanals adjoining the ‘College Botanical Garden’ was inaugurated by Secretary, Higher Education Department, Jb. Talat Parvez Rohella, amidst huge gathering comprising of researchers, scholars, delegates from various parts of the world prominent citizens, nature lovers ,students and college staff. Congratulating the staff and Principal of the College for creating one of the most valuable asset for the College, Mr. Rohella said ,”conservation of our natural resources and wild life is of paramount importance for the maintenance of ecological balance especially when all our natural resources are under the anthropogenic stress and it will be a big contribution on the part of Govt. Degree College Udhampur in this direction”. On this occasion Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, HoD Botany and in charge of the ‘Eco-Park Project team of the college’, briefed the chief guest about the realm of biological spectrum of the park Eco-park and informed about the major floral and faunal species available in the Eco park and future action plant for making this park more rich and beneficial for the students and nature lovers. Jb. Rohella commended the efforts of the College team and suggested to get the team with student members also as registered society with blue print of the future development plans in hand and Department of Hr. Education will provide funding to the society for maintenance and upkeep of this Eco- park . The Principal of the College Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra informed the gathering that the said Eco-park was Rakh area in and was s transferred to Govt. Degree College Udhampur way back in 1961 ,but was not in Physical possession of the College and there was every likelihood of encroachment of this area by the encroachers from different sides. “It was my long cherished desire to retrieve this area and develop it into a park with very restricted anthropogenic inference so that its natural landscape and biodiversity is not disturbed “He added. The Secretary to Government Higher Education Department directed that an action plan for the Ecological Park keeping at least ten years into consideration be prepared so that there is least intervention of humans in nature and flora-fauna of Himalayan region is preserved in its true sense.

Sanrakshan A 3-Day International Conference on Water Conservation begins at GDC Udhampur

Sh. Talat Parvez Rohella, Secretary to Govt., Higher Education Department said that the need of the hour is to derive strategies to maintain balance between our needs Vis-à-vis the Nature. He accentuated upon developing the techniques to mitigate the challenges with viable solutions for the conservation and preservation of water to sustain life in present and for future too. He was speaking on the occasion of inauguration of three day International Conference on Water Conservation at Govt. Degree College Udhampur in which hundreds of delegates from across the Country and abroad assembled in the college to deliberate, discuss and evolve the methodologies for conservation of water. In the Inaugural Jb. Talat Parvez Rohella, Secretary to Govt. Higher Education Department was the Chief Guest whereas Mr. Pardeep Dutta, Bureau Chief Times Now, DDC Udhampur Dr. Piyush Singla, Sh. Rajiv Pandey, SSP Udhampur, Padam Shree C. Norphel, the Glacier Man of India and Mr. Sohail Kazmi were amongst the other diginitaries who shared the dais with Chief Guest in the inaugural event. Delivering the keynote address Dr. Piyush Singla talked in entirety about the theme of the conference and put on record the problems and the solutions thereto for the preservation of environment to conserve water. He was of the view that though no rocket-science could ever mitigate the problems of the scarcity and pollution of water, yet small efforts at individual level can achieve goals which are only visualized today. He apprised all present about the success of “Jeevika Model” for Water Conservation and Sustainable farming initiated by District Administration Udhampur. The keynote was followed by the deliberation of Sh. Pardeep Dutta, Bureau Chief Times Now News Channel, wherein he talked in length about the water Crisis Scenario Vis-à-vis Water politics with special reference to Indus water treaty. On this occasion books written by Dr. Ved Kumar of Chemistry and the one authored by Dr. Rupali Sharma, Department of English were also released. Earlier Principal Prof. (Dr). IQAC organizes Alumni Meet at GDC Udhampur

Under the patronship of Principal Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the College organized an Alumni Meet in which a large number of Alumni from different batches of the College participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Welcoming the alumni the Principal accentuated on the worth and value of such a meet that is both contributory and reminiscential. He put on record that Alumni are the real torchbearers of the values and the knowledge imbibed and practiced in the College. He apprised all present about the various state of art works accomplished and further initiated by College ranging from excellence in academics, sports, research, conferences on one ebb and installation of Smart-boards, virtual class rooms as also the inauguration of Ecological Park in the forthcoming International Conference on Water Conservation starting from 29 th of February 2020. Earlier the programme started with Guru vandana performed by Vijay and Arjun from Music Department under the guidance of Prof. Samosh Kumar. Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra Coordinator IQAC presented a report on the Quality initiatives and projects completed, at hand in the academic and other fields in the previous years as also under the present leadership of the Present Principal. This was followed by an open house discussion in which a number of Alumni spoke on various aspect; their experiences of student life, their professional achievement and also gave important suggestions to the students present and the staff on future prospectives of their Alma-mater. The President of Alumni Association, Sh. Balwant Singh Mankotia, (former MLA) expressed his views and also announced for reconstitution of body on 27 th of March, 2020. SEBI, BSE Seminar at Udhampur College

A Seminar on Investar Education was held in Govt. Degree College Udhampur. The purpose of the session was to educate the students and faculty regarding right Investment in share or stock market. Personnel from SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) and BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) took the Seminar and imparted practical knowledge regaring the share market investments and the mechanism through which we can invest in share market. The welcome address to the personnel was given by Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra, adorable Principal of the College encompassed with Senior faculty members of the College. Mr. Varun Gupta and Mr. Wasim Ahmed impressed upon the BSS Investments and various SIP plans wherein right investment could be done and would be fruitful to the near future of individuals. The session was very interactive as students of B.Com, BBA and other inquisted numerous queries which were very well answered by the team. Further the students were also provided refreshment for attending the session. GDC Udhampur organizes First Ever Sports Festival 2020

“Sports are integral constituent of the curriculum which gives physical and mental fitness to the players and help in the holistic development of the students” said Sh. Navin K. Chaudhary IAS, Principal Secretary Higher and Technical Education, while declaring the ‘4-day sports fest-2020’ open at GDC Udhampur in an impressive opening ceremony. He emphasized upon the players to work hard , never give up and bounce back with new zeal for winning titles in their games. Lauding the leadership role of Prof. Nutan K. Resutra, Principal of the college and his dedicated staff for taking lead in organizing various curricular and extra –curricular activities for the all-round personality development of the students, he assured of all necessary help in the required for the further strengthening of college sports infrastructure. Dr. Piyush Singla IAS, District Development Commissioner Udhampur was the guest of honor and Sh. Rajiv Pandey, IPS, SSP Udhampur and Director Technical Education remained present as special guests in the program. In the event a total of 53 teams drawn from different colleges of Jammu Division are taking part to fight for titles in various games. He briefed to the dignitaries about various activities and program that college has at hand in the days to come and assured the department of putting his best for the betterment of the college. Maiden Parents Teacher organized at GDC Udhampur

A Maiden Parent Teacher Meet was organized by the IQAC of the College in which a number of parents and guardians of the students along with the college teachers participated with great zeal. The programme started with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the senior staff and the parents present on the occasion followed by a melodious Guru Vandana presented by the students of the Department of Music. The programme formally started with the Welcome address by Dr. Bhavnaish Chand ( Principal In charge for the day) wherein he also threw light on the various achievements of the College in preceding years as also the future course of action with respect to academics and extra-curricular activities. He invited the parents to give their valuable suggestions for the same too. It was followed by the detailed report presented by Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra, Convener IQAC, on the excellence and the achievements of the college in various areas and future proposals as well as plans in which are pipeline in the forthcoming time. Post to this there was a threadbare open house discussion session of the parents and teachers in which many a parent put forth their appreciation for the current administration under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. Nutan K. Resutra. They also registered and put on record a number of suggestions for the future course of excellence of the institute and their wards thereof. The IQAC and other members of the staff present attentively listened and responded accordingly to all the viewpoints/ grievances put forth by the parents and the guardians. Reminiscing his literary travelogue from the very beginning when he started with a humble career as school teacher to Padam Shri Prof.Shiv Nirmohi, here counted all his strengths and weaknesses .He has hundreds of publications in the form of books and research papers to his credit and has stayed on the panel of Experts for Dogri language in UPSC. He mentioned the names of all those who helped him during his strenuous literary and research journey and acknowledged their support in his endeavors. ‘We should always live with ‘Praval Ichchha Shakti’ (Sincere efforts) and positivity are two powerful tool to change our dream into reality’ ,he added further. GDC Udhampur organizes Mega Walkthon’ under Fit India Movement

“A nation cannot progress and prosper unless it is a nation of physically fit citizens and to stay healthy and fit, we would have to live our life with sports activities as our daily routine” said Mr.Mohd Khalid Khan while briefing the students and staff of Govt. Degree College Udhampur before flagging off a ‘mega Walkathon’ organized by the college in which NCC cadets, NSS volunteers ,students and staff members of GDC Udhampur and Bhartiya College of Education took part. Carrying banners and placards in hands and enchanting various slogans on importance of healthy and fit life, Walkathon’ passed through various prominent locations of the Udhampur town. The objective of the mega walk was to aware and sensitize the masses about the significance of healthy and fit body. Hundreds of students participate in the walk with tremendous enthusiasm and zeal. It is worthwhile to mention here that the program was organized as part of ‘Fit India Movement Campaign’ launched by Sh.Narender Modi , Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, under the mission to make India a healthy Fit Nation. Udhampur Girls win Police Rolling Trophy

The Girls squad of NCC Cadets of Govt. PG College Udhampur brought laurels to the College by bagging the prestigious Udhampur Police Rolling Trophy. This trophy was presented to them for their outstanding performance in the March Past during the celebrations of 71 st Republic Day at Udhampur. The girls were also adjudged as overall first position in March Past among troops that comprised of thirty five in number. This Police Rolling Trophy will remain with them permanently in case they win it for three consecutive years, said the Udhampur Police spokesperson.

During celebrations of 71 st Republic Day in Udhampur, Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra, Principal Govt. Degree College Udhampur was felicitated for rendering meritorious services by the District Administration Udhampur. His services in resorting to innovative activities in College besides transforming the same have been recognized and appreciated by the District Administration. Dr. Nutan Resutra was also conferred with Certificate of Merit by Jammu and Kashmir Police. This Certificate was presented by Sh. Sujit Kumar Singh, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range in recognition of his creative thinking, initiative driven energy with positive attitude, valuable contribution and outstanding services. A Medal and Certificate are presented by the DIG Police Personnel only for services rendered by them. As an extra-ordinary action by the Police, Dr. Nutan Resutra who is a civilian was conferred upon with this Certificate thus bringing laurels to the College.

Let Not Stress Derail Youth”: Sujit Kumar Singh

“Overcoming your weaknesses with your motivational power is the word that everyone adores as, 'Success”, said Mr. Sujit Kr. Singh IPS, DIG Udhampur Reasi range in an interactive session with the students and staff, organized by the IQAC and Career Counseling Cell of the college. One should not allow one's positive stresses subdued by negative thoughts and thinking as the latter lead a person in a situation where realization of one’s goal becomes a distant dream, he also said. Striving for seeking realistic means and approaches clubbed with shunning of ego and pseudo-idealism, particularly at collegiate stage would help students become a successful person in life, he added in his mesmerizing address. Mr. Sanidhaya Singh, Inspector Income Tax, Dept Central Govt. from Nagpur was also a resource person who delivered a talk on the preparations for SSC exams after graduation. He stressed that carrying option B in one's mind would always hamper his struggle for achieving the main goal. He added that one should not try to be influenced with other person’s stype of preparations: instead he should do whatever is most natural to him. Mr. Kameshwar Puri KPS, Staff Officer to the DIG, was yet another effective speaker who presented his talk on various career options after graduation. Observance of Road Safety Week at GDC Udhampur

Govt. Degree College Udhampur in collaboration with Civil Defence, SDRF Department and ARTO Udhampur organized one day workshop on First AID in connection with ongoing observance of Road Safety Week. At the very outset, Sh. S.D Kotwal, Dy. Chief Warden Civil Defence explained in detail the motto and objectives of Civil Defence. He advised the students not to go for rash driving and also cautioned them to bear helmet during the ride of two wheelers. He further quoted that the life is the precious gift of almighty and one should use it for the welfare of mankind. He also quoted Swami Vivekanand that besides various patriotism one should also go for practical patriotism. Sh. Vidya Sagar, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Civil Defence also shared his views with the audience on this occasion. Mr. Anil Kumar, Master Trainer, demonstrated various techniques by which one can save the precious human lives during natural disaster, manmade disaster and during the accidents and domestic incidents. During the programme the students raised many queries which were replied by the resource person to the satisfaction of the students. GDC Udhampur organized AIDS awareness Ralley

Red Ribbon Club of Govt. Degree College Udhampur in collaboration with J&K State AIDS Control Society organized a ralley in connection with AIDS awareness. The ralley was flagged off by the Principal of the College. The ralley passed through the various locations of the city in which the NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers among many others participated. The students carried banners/placards with slogans depicting not to indulge in activities which spread AIDS. The students also held interactions with the common masses in small groups to aware them about this dreaded disease. Earlier the students were addressed by Prof. (Major) Kamal Kishore, NCC Officer and Prof. Hans Raj Sharma Convener Red Ribbon Club in which they emphasized that each student be the ambassador to propagate the ill effects of AIDS among the common masses in their towns and villages so that society can be freed from the various anti-social menaces. GSI Presents Rare Rock/Mineral and Fossil specimens to GDC Udhampur

“The future of students is fully secured with attracted Pay package with GSI” said Sh. Dinesh V. Ganvir, Deputy Director General GSI, while interaction with students and staff at Degree College Udhampur. The Deputy Director General had visited the College in connection with giving away the rare specimens of fossils, rocks and minerals to the College. He further said that the Department will be conducting field surveys and other academic activities of College students so that they get practical training. He also said that the students of Geology have great future with GSI in getting attractive pay packages. He also lauded the role of officers of Department who are working in extreme conditions rendering various services to the people of the UT. Earlier he was received by Principal of the College Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra who took him to the Department of Geology. He was happy to see the apparatus, models and samples and highly appreciated the work and function of the Geology Department and its faculty. More than 20 samples were presented by the GSI to the College. Other Senior faculty members were presented including Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Dr. Babu Lal Thakur, Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra, Prof. G. R. Verma, Prof. Rajan Bharti, and Prof. Ravi Sharma. He also visited the Department of Sericulture where he had glance of Raw Silk Cocoons of different varieties and decorative items prepared from Cocoons, prepared by students of the College and appreciated the work done by the particular Department.

राजकीय महाविद्यालय ऊधमपुर में 7 दिसंबर 2019 को हिन्दी साहित्य मंडल की और से एक काव्य पाठ प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया। यह डा. आदर्श जी की अध्यक्षता में हुआ। इस प्रतियोगिता के मुख्य अतिथि राजकीय महाविद्यालय के प्राचार्य डा. नूतन कुमार रसूत्रा थे।  इस प्रतियोगिता का शुभारंभ दीप प्रज्वलन से हुआ। उसके बाद सभी वरिष्ठ सदस्यों ने अपना- अपना स्थान ग्रहण किया और हिन्दी साहित्य मंडल की प्रधान डा. चंचल डोगरा जी ने आए हुए अतिथियों का औपचारिक स्वागत किया। इसमें निर्णायक मंडल की भूमिका प्रो. किरण बख्शी, प्रो. गोपाल शर्मा  ने निभाई। इस कार्यकम की संचालक हिन्दी साहित्य मंडल की श्रीमती उमा और राजकीय महाविद्यालय की नेहा जम्वाल रही।    इस प्रतियोगिता में राजकीय महाविद्यालय उधमपुर, राजकीय महिला कॉलेज उधमपुर, राजकीय महाविद्यालय मजालता, राजकीय महाविद्यालय नीली नाला, भास्कर डिग्री कॉलेज उधमपुर, भारतीय कॉलेज ऑफ एजुकेशन, शिवालिक कॉलेज ऑफ एजुकेशन उधमपुर आदि के प्रतिभागियों ने भाग लिया। प्रतिभागियों ने अपनी सुंदर कविताएं बोलकर सभी क़ो मंत्रमुग्ध कर दिया।  कार्यक्रम के अध्यक्ष डा. आदर्श ने हिन्दी भाषा के महत्व पर प्रकाश डाला और कहा कि इस तरह की साहित्यिक प्रतियोगिताएँ समस्त भारत में होनी चाहिए ताकि बच्चों की छिपी हुई प्रतिभा सामने आए और साहित्यिक गतिविधियों को बढ़ावा मिले।अंत में उन्होंने अपनी कविता की सुंदर पंक्तियां पढ़कर अपनी वाणी को विराम दिया।  मुख्य अतिथि, प्राचार्य राजकीय महाविद्यालय,डॉ. नूतन कुमार रसूत्रा, हिन्दी साहित्य मंडल की प्रधान डा. चंचल डोगरा, इस कार्यकम के अध्यक्ष, और अन्य वरिष्ठ सदस्यों ने विजेता प्रतिभागियों को पुरस्कार देकर सम्मानित किया। इस प्रतियोगिता में प्रथम स्थान महिला कॉलेज उधमपुर की जाह्नवी को, द्वितीय स्थान भारतीय कॉलेज ऑफ एजुकेशन की सुगंधी, और तृतीय स्थान शिवालिक कॉलेज ऑफ एजुकेशन की शारदा को प्राप्त हुआ। दो प्रोत्साहन पुरस्कार नीली नाला की ईशा शर्मा और शिवालिक कॉलेज की प्रियंका को मिले। इसके पश्चात मुख्य अतिथि प्राचार्य डा. नूतन कुमार रसूत्रा जी ने हिन्दी साहित्य मंडल प्रधान डा. चंचल डोगरा जी को इस सफल कार्यक्रम के लिए बधाई दी।    अंत में हिन्दी साहित्य मंडल के मुख्य सचिव जी ने आये हुए अतिथियों और सभी महानुभावों का धन्यवाद किया और आशा जताई कि भविष्य में भी सबके सहयोग से इस तरह के सफल कार्यक्रम होते रहेंगे। इस कार्यक्रम को सुचारु रूप से चलाने के लिये  हिन्दी विभाग की सहायक प्राध्यापक पूजा धीमान व  सभी प्राध्यापकों का सहयोग रहा। प्राचार्य

Hindi Poetry Competition held at GDC Udhampur

Hindi Sahit Mandal, Jammu in collaboration with Govt. Degree College today organized Hindi Poetry Competition to promulgate and uplift the tenderness of Hindi poetry. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra, worthy Principal of the College. Dr. Aadarsh was the guest of honour on the occasion accompanied by Dr. Chanchal Dogra, Head Sahitya Mandal. The occasion started up with lamp lighting engrossed with all the dignitaries. The participants in the programme students from were GDC Udhampur, GCW Udhampur, Bhaskar Degree College, GDC Neeli Nallah, GDC Majalta, Bhartiya College of Education, Shivalik College of Education. All the participants portrayed and divulged their poems blatantly and captivated the vista of the audience at large. The judges for the programme were Prof. Kiran Bakshi, Prof. Gopal Sharma, Dr. Aadarsh commented and said that such type of Hindi poetry competition should be held across the UT and globe in order to cater the needness and compatibility of Hindi poetry. The first position in the competition was attained by Govt. College for Women, Udhampur, Ms. Jhanvi followed by 2 nd position by Ms. Sugandhi, Bhartiya College of Education, followed by 3 rd position by Ms. Sharda, Shivalik College of Education further followed by consolation prizes won by Ms. Isha Sharma, GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur and Ms. Priyanka from Shivalik College of Education Udhampur. Further Hindi Sahitya Mandal presented a memento to Worthy Principal of the College Dr. Nutan Resutra. NCC cadets of Govt. Degree College Udhampur, Govt. Model HSS Boys Udhampur, Govt. HSS Tikri and GHSS Chenani collectively participated with great enthusiasm in “PLOGGING” under the banner 2J&K Bn. NCC Jammu. This has been one of the event of “SWACHTA PAKHWADA” being observed from 1 st December, 2019 to 15 th December, 2019. The ploggers assembled at GDC Udhampur and were flagged off by the Chief Guest Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra. He encouraged the NCC Cadets for showing dedication to produce themselves ready for any social cause. He asked NCC Cadets to make Swachta a habit of their life and also aware others to keep the surroundings Clean and make our Country healthy. We the People at Udhampur College

‘We the people of India, give ourselves…..’ with these words ranted the whole atmosphere of Govt. Degree College Udhampur where thousands of students along with their teachers and guests took Constitutional Oath on the occasion of India’s Constitution Day today; which was followed by other activities. The main event was held in the historical College Vatika where all the College students accompanied by their teaching and non-teaching faculty assembled. The Constitution Oath was administrated by Ms. Khushi, a student of Semester-I of the College. All those present in the Vatika raised their hands and took the sacred Oath. The Oath taking ceremony was followed by screening of the movie on Constitution Day screened earlier in the Rajya Sabha; showing Constituent Assembly, various debates, symposia and other activities that preluded the adopting of Constitution of India. Besides the students were also made enlightened of other historical facts with this movie. On the occasion, Principal of the College Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra also highlighted the attributes of Indian Constitution and appealed to the students to internalize the fundamental duties laid down in the Constitution to become good citizens. After the movie show, the staff and students attended a lecturer on Fundamental Rights delivered by the District and Senior Judge Hon’ble Justice M.L. Parihar held in the Head Quarter of 137 Bn. CRPf at Omara Morh. They had a wonderful interactive session with the members of the Judicial fraternity who appraised them of various colorful aspects of the Indian Constitution. On the occasion Senior Advocate and Social Activists Swantatra Dev Kotwal, Advocate Mr. Sanjeet Kumar, Ms. Sandeep Kaur, Mr. Farooq Khan also interacted with audience and highlighted the features of Indian Constitution. In yet another addition the Traffic Police headed by Sh. J. S. Johar, KPS, Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic National Highway accompanied by other officers visited the College. They interacted with staff and students on the occasion of Constitution Day and distributed various written material among the students and other present pertaining to Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties, Preamble and other significant aspects of the Constitution of India. It is for the first time that Constitution day has been celebrated since abrogation of Article 370 and formation of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Devotion, ferver mark Udhampur College Gurupurab Celebrations Religious devotion and ferver marked the celebration of 550 th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji by the staff and students of Govt. Degree College Udhampur that consisted of an exhibition depicting the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The function commenced with inauguration of the Exhibition by SSP Udhampur Sh. Rajiv Pandey, IPS and SSP Traffic National Highway S. J. S. Johar, KPS. Addressing the staff and the students SSP Udhampur Sh. Rajiv Pandey while speaking on the occasion emphasized everyone to follow Sehaj Yog and not to go into the details of any religion. He also talked about Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings like service to humanity which needs to be adopted by all to remove present turbulence in the society. He elaborated upon the fact that Guru Nanak had travelled across globe to spread his teachings of brotherhood, harmony and love among all faiths of life. SSP Traffic N/H S. J. S. Johar said that the birth of Guru Nanak Ji removed the darkness of desperation and enlightened the whole World. He also added that Guru Nank was not the religious leader of one particular community only; but belonged to the whole of mankind. He also stressed upon the fact that the teachings of Guru Nanak Ji are more relevant in today’s turbulent World for the welfare of one and all as the whole World is suffering on many counts. He added that equality to women was always one of the most significant objectives of Guru Nanak Dev Ji life and that a common cultural Consciousness of India and unity in diversity was a big contribution of the Guru Ji. Earlier, the function commenced with Inauguration of exhibition on the life and teachings of Guru Nank Dev Ji which was followed by a speech by S. Surjeet Singh, Secretary Shrimoni Gurdwara Prabandak Committee Udhampur in which he elaborated on the contributions of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He cited various quotes from Guru Granth Sahib that elaborated the Teachings of Founder of Sikhism explaining in detail their relevance at various points of time.. Interaction with experts from various countries dominated the concluding day of International Conference of Udhampur College today. According to a press release issued by the College; experts from various countries interacted with delegates at Udhampur College during the proceedings of three-day International Conference being organized by Govt. Degree College Udhampur in collaboration with Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA). Giving details the Principal Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra said that this is for the first time that any College in the State is hosting an International Conference where interactions are taking place through Video Conferencing with experts from different corners of the World. He also said that these interactions have resulted in much enlightenment among all stake holders. Dr. Sukhmani Khaorana, Senior Lecturer and Academic Programme Leader at University of Wollongong, Australia made her presentation on the topic ‘Migration where she elaborated upon its various aspects”. Her conceptual analysis and crystal clear elaboration was highly appreciated by one and all where delegates also indulged in question answer session. Her lecture was followed by that of Sh. Sahil Sharma, Senior Vice President, Operations and Hardware, SKIP Transport, INC, San Franeisco USA who talked about Creating new product categories; Sh. Vikram Singh, Accounts Director with L&T Finance; Sh. The Valedictory session was attended by eminent historian and scholar Prof. Shiv Nirmohi, former Head of Geography of Jammu University including Prof. Rajinder Sharma, Prof. B.C. GDC Udhampur ushers in International Conference again.

A 3 day long International Conference at Govt. Degree College Udhampur in collaboration with Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) ” was inaugurated today by Prof. M.K. Jyoti, eminent Academician and founder member of ISCA Jammu. “Global Challenges, Innovation and Sustainability of Mankind: Unraveling the Mind’s Eye “Now time has come when the whole human mind particularly the Scientific brain on the planet Earth need to get uninted to evolve such innovations and research findings as to meet all present day challenges that are confronting the mankind, efficiently” said the former Dean Sciences and HoD Zoology, University of Jammu, Prof. Jyoti in his presidential remarks in the inaugural session of the mega academic event. He also lauded the efficient leadership of Prof. Nutan Kumar Resutra, Principal of the College for making this event happen at College level, which is unprecedented Prof. B.P. Kapadnis, Professor Emeritus and HoD, Department of Microbiology, Pune University, was the Guest of Honor on the occasion. At Hall ‘B’ Prof. Pragti Jasrotia was the resource person who delivered a talk on “English Literature in present perspective which was chaired by Prof. R.P Sharma from Geography Department, University of Jammu . At Hall ‘C’ total of 11 presentations were made and the session was chaired by Prof. V.S. Manhas, Former HoD Geography Department, University of Jammu. Day 1 activities concluded with the presentation of Cultural Bonanza by the Music Department and various local folk artists. Dr. S.D. GDC Udhampur conducts Industrial Visit

The students of Department of Environmental Sciences of Govt. Degree College, Udhampur in the company of Prof. Poonam Kundan and Ms. Sonia Sharma visited Battal Ballian Industrial Complex to meet one requirement under the prescribed subject curriculum. Principal of the College, Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra flagged off the tour in the morning. The students of Semester V (Skill Enhancement Course) visited Insecticides (India) limited where Mr. Yogesh Tripathi, Factory Manager gave detailed information regarding various procedures in the industry and focused on various Pollution Control devices. Vicky Saho, ETP Incharge, demonstrated detailed functioning of effluent treatment plant in the industry. The main theme of the visit is to aware and imbibe practical knowledge regarding different Pollution Control devices installed in the Industry. GDC Udhampur visits Fruit Plant Nursery at Balnagar, Udhapur

Department of Environmental Sciences of GDC Udhampur visited fruit plant nursery at Balnagar, Jib Thathi, Udhampur. Students of the college of Sem-III (Solid Waste Management) along with Prof. Poonam Kundan and Ms. Sonia Sharma visited the Fruit Plant Nursery to know about the process of Vermicomposting. The visit was coordinated by Brij Vallabh Gupta, Chief Horticulture Officer, Udhampur. Detailed process of Vermicomposting was demonstrated by Rajesh Gupta, Horticulture Development officer Udhampur. The students attained the familiarity regarding vermicomposting which imbibes practical knowledge and adherence of the same. Moreover the students were very enthusiastic and voracious during the event which uplifted them into wider aspects of skill attainments, learning, and recreations. The event encouraged the students with more subject viability and its magnificence in the day-to-day life. The wider tenderness of the fruit plant horticulture (vermicomposting) is presently required to be fostered among the students by conducting such type of event. The cognition regarding the budding, grafting, layering procedures were also imparted to the students by Vijay Kumar, Department of Horticulture. GDC Udhampur organizes Awareness Programme on Sanitation and Female Health

Govt. Degree College Udhampur in collaboration with Mahila Jagriti Abhiyan Sanstha, Gujarat organized an awareness lecture-cum- demonstration on sanitation and female health hygiene in the college premises. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Bhavnaish Chand ,Incharge Principal Govt. Degree College Udhampur. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest congratulated the organizers for initiating such an awareness programme for the female staff and students of the college in relation to female health. Prior to this, the programme started with formal welcome address by Miss. Shonima Malhotra, HOD Department of Sociology, followed by technical session conducted by Miss. Rupali ,member Mahila Jagriti Abhiyan Sanstha, Gujarat. She threw light on Feminine hygiene, different products related to female hygiene(sanitary napkins etc) , their merits and demerits. She also advised the students to maintain their hygiene by adopting healthy cleaning habits. Govt. Degree College Udhampur will be hosting an International Conference on the topic “Unraveling the Minds Eye: Global Challenges, Innovation and Sustainability of Mankind from October, 31 st to November 2 nd , 2019. While addressing the media, he further said that being Inter-Disciplinary in nature and perspectives, the proceedings of the conference shall be a rare intellectual exercise where minds from different disciplines, subjects regions, and countries shall be brought under one umbrella to unravel their wisdom and philosophy. Deliberation to be made in the Conference will go a long way in enriching minds, he said. Parthasarthy, formerly Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan and at present Hon’ble Chancellor, Central University of Jammu has very kindly consented to be the Chief Guest on the Inaugural session on October 31 st , 2019. He also said that this Conference will commence on that very day itself when the formal bifurcation of the State of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories viz. Jammu & Kashmir and Laddakh will take place. Various firms from within as also outside the State have expressed desire to put up different stalls during the Conference displaying their products; besides Geological Survey of India will also be participating in the Conference Exhibition he said. In this three day mega academic event, various technical sessions will run side by side. There will be a colourful cultural programme on the day of Inauguration also. This is the proud moment for GDC, Udhampur and 2 J&K Girls Bn NCC, Jammu that four of our NCC Cadets namely Sumiya Shabnam, Manisha, Shepali and Simran from Government Degree College, Udhampur have successfully completed the TSC (THAL SENA CAMP) , TSC is all about purely rigorous Army training , this is for the people who can wake-up at 4 am, do obstacles till 8 and then go for rifle Shooting , Judging distance and then get themselves ready for line area ,and after this tiring day they go for health and hygiene classes . The selection happens through back to back Competitive camps Unit level, Group level, directorate level if any cadets get selected in all those then he will be recommended to Delhi to attend All India Thal Sena Camp. After the completion of the camp TSC Cadets are invited for the tea party of DG NCC. From the entire group out of 1,000 cadets only 40 cadets got recommended for All India Thal Sena Camp. He further elaborated that the main aim of this club should be to establish a reliable and common approach for grasping the traffic situation of the town by building a system that effectively utilizes traffic sensing. He also said that as per the official record, a total of around 1.5 lac accidents took place and 235 fatalities are reported in J&K in the year 2019 which means approximately 01 person dies because of road accident every day. He also shed light on the new amendments made under the motor vehicle act and discussed in detail about the various fines based on the levels of menace. He specifically highlighted that the adolescents and who are under age if found driving any vehicle without helmet and the driving license, their parents will be fined as they give consent unknowingly to their children. He stressed upon all present about the need of adopting music in life and also use it as a staple tool to create awareness about the burning issues of the society and the nation by involving the young people at large. In the programme Mr. Sulabh Gupta assisted by Himanshu and Arun on Guitar and Mr. Ajay Singh on Drum Pad, sang many popular numbers of Bollywood, popular Dogri Songs, Popular Sufi Songs as well as many self-composed numbers encapsulating a strong message to SAY NO TO DRUGS as also TO DO AWAY with single use plastic and polythene. Mr. Sulabh through his songs inspired the audience to stand strongly as collective force against the fatal menace of Drugs, the abuse of which is taking the youth on the track of destruction, disease and death. NSS Units of GDC Udhampur observed Gandhi Jayanti as ‘Shramdaan’ Day

NSS volunteers of GDC Udhampur observed 150 th Birth anniversary of father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi as a special day to rededicate their selves for realization of various Gandhian principles for the betterment of mankind and nature today. On the occasion a massive cleanliness drive to remove the polythene and wrappers bits from the college campus was carried out under the command of NSS Programme officers Prof.Samosh Kumar and Dr.Rippy Bawa while interacting with the volunteers briefed about the ‘Swachhta hi Sewa ‘ under Swachh Bharat Mission launched by the Govt. of India and stressed upon them to become massagers to the Gandhian Philosophy to the common Masses. Earlier Gandhi Jayanti commemoration activities began with the address by the Dr.N.K.Resutra, Principal of the college who while addressing the volunteers said that soil pollution is major concern all over the world and single use plastic has been one of the major soil pollutants . Govt. Degree College Udhampur celebrated the International Old-age Day with great fervor and enthusiasm. The event was marked by the Oath taking ceremony followed by a bunch of cultural items which included dances, songs, guitar- playing, skits etc. in the college premises. The NSS Volunteers also spoke about the significance of this day and why it should be observed throughout keeping in mind the present scenario of the declining moral values in today’s youth and their indifferent behavior towards the old members of the society resulting in disrespect and homelessness of the aged. In his motivational speech, he persuaded the present generation to be more submissive, caring and tolerant towards the elders of the family who are the pillars of our social system. Hereafter, the NSS volunteers visited the Jagriti Oldage Home for a rendezvous with the senior citizens of our society. Government Degree College Udhampur badminton team brought laurels to the College by clinching Badminton (Men) Trophy by defeating GCET Jammu by 3-1 in Inter-College Badminton tournament held at University of Jammu. College in the second semi-final match to book their berth for final against GDC Kathua for title match in the ongoing Governor’s Silver Rolling Volleyball Championship, 2019 at GDC Udhampur today. In a tough and breathtaking fight GDC Udhampur defeated GGM Sc. College by 3,2 whereas GDC Kathua register an easy win over defending champion GDC Hiranagar by 3.1. Earlier four quarter final three league matches and four quarter final matches in men section and four quarter final matches in women section were played. 5 th Edition of State Level Governor’s Silver Rolling Trophy inter-Collegiate Volleyball championship will be held w.e.f 13 th to 15 th September, 2019 at College Ground, Government Degree College Udhampur. Giving details the College authorities said that this Sports Kumbh had be much delayed due to circumstances. We are beyond control of everybody. Further they elaborated that in this tournament, teams from all three regions Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh participate to clash for the prestigious Governor’s Silver Rolling Trophy. They also said that matches are played in categories of Men and Women on the knockout system. The College authorities informed that the Mega fan fare inaugural ceremony will be performed by the Son of the Soil Farooq Khan, Hon’ble Advisor on September 13, 2019 where all participating teams will be presenting march past in a colourful procession followed by cultural event. Sh. S.D Singh, Jamwal, IPS, Director Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy will present trophies to the winging teams on 15 th September, 2019. The College authorities have extended invitation to all Colleges and are excepting large scale participation from all the three regions. They also said it is for the first time that the team from Ladakh is also participating in this event. It has been a standing practice that all outside teams are provided with boarding and lodging facilities by the host College. Massive Plantation Drive by CRPF at GDC Udhampur

Commandants CRPF Battalions 137 and 187, along with other officers in collaboration with Govt. Degree College Udhampur organized a massive plantation Drive in the College Campus in which more than two thousand fruit plant saplings of different saps like Apple, Guava, Pomegranate, Mango were planted also distributed among students and staff for plantation in the College. Hundreds of students from Botany and EVS Department, planted these and pledged to adopt these plants for care to their survival. Scores of CRPF Jawans and officers from these two battalions participated in the plantation drive with fervor and enthusiasm for their service to mother nature. Interacting with the students who adopted newly planted saplings, Sh. R. B. “Drugs are more dangerous than Bullets” DIG Udhampur Reasi “Drugs are no different to the bullets of the terrorists” said Sh. Sujit K. Singh, IPS, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range while interacting with students on Drug Abuse in the Government Degree College Udhampur. Speaking on the occasion, The DIG said that when neighbouring countries failed to kill us with bullets, they started pumping drugs into our Country, thus crippling the whole young generation without firing even a single bullet. He further said that enemy countries whose economies are crippled are resorting to Narco-Terrorism, generating funds for themselves at the cost of destroying our young generation. Quoting from the WHO sources, Sh Sujit Kumar Singh IPS said that out of total drug addicts of 40 million in the whole world, India is having eight million plus drug addict. In his address to the students, Sh Sujit K. Singh IPS said that just like app play store, the God has given us a play store from where we can download apps that shape our life. First ever Workshop on FDP and Department of Geology inaugurated at GDC Udhampur

Sh. Dinesh V. Ganvir, Deputy Director General Geological Survey of India and Dr. Garima Gupta from Department of English, University of Jammu inaugurated the first ever FDP- Cum-Workshop on “Personality Development and Communication Skills” amongst the galaxy of academicians, faculty members, scholars from across the state, students of post- graduate and under-graduate departments of the Colleges. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Sh. Dinesh V. Ganvir lauded the efforts of the College to take lead in organizing such, need of the hour training programmes. He was of the view that in every walk of life communication and good personality skills matter a lot. In his address he also stressed upon the faculty to go to the level of the students and hone and inculcate in them confidence and courage along with instilling good communication skills to make them competitive and well prepared for the challenges of life. Prior to this the Chief Guest also inaugurated the newly established, Department of Geology in the College. In the inaugural process he deliberated on various programmes of Ministry of Mines, State Unit J&K for the educational institutions. He further said that the Geological Survey of India will provide all facilities to the students of this Collge in conducting outdoor activities including touring; lectures by experts from the Department as also various skill related programmes that these activities make students self dependent in pursuance to directions of the Government of India. Mohit Sharma a renowned theatre artist, social media producer, stand-up comedian, Dogri Meme artist, founder member famous Dogri You-Tube channel Ambal, from Mumbai, Maharashtra. One Week Workshop on Translation “SRIJAN” concludes at GDC Udhampur

A one week workshop on Translation “SRIJAN” ‘ A Step Towards Creation’ concluded today at GDC Udhampur. The workshop was conducted from 9 th April to 15 th April, 2019 and was organized by the Department of English. The Resource persons included Prof. Parkash Premi, Prof. (Dr). Yash Raina, Dr. Amitabh. V. Diwivedi, Prof. Sudhir Singh, Prof. Surjit Hosh, Dr. Garima Gupta, Prof. Shashi Pathania, Prof. Sandeep Dubey and Mrs. Manu Khajuria Singh. A first of its kind, the workshop got an immense response from the students and faculty members of the varsity. Prof.(Dr). Nutan Kumar Resutra, Principal of the College, said that he was happy to see the enthusiasm of the younger generation towards translating Dogri and Hindi Literature into English, “I am overwhelmed with the response and has to be some sustained work of translation, he said. 700th Tree talk at Udhampur College

“However scientific progress we have made, it is time to return to mother nature if we want to save human race”, said Mr.Ravi Kesar IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Chairmen Pollution Control Board while deliberating during 700 th Tree Talk and unveiling ceremony of Commemoration Pillar at Degree College Udhampur today. In a highly impressive and first of its kind botanical function organised by Nature Club and Prof. Romesh Atri, eminent Taxonomist, Sh. Ravi Kesar further said that there is sufficient in nature to cater to the needs of everyone, however we should use natural resources judiciously. Thrust should be to replenish plants whenever cut them so that Mother Nature is preserved; he also added. As a sequel to United Nation Bio-Diversity Decade with current year’s ‘Wild Edible’ theme, the 700 th Tree Talk was held by Sh.O.P.Sharma Vidyarthi IPS, the driving force behind tree talk movement. The function commenced with planting of ‘Living Fossil’ plants by the dignitaries. This was followed by unveiling Ceremony of “700 th Tree Talk Commemoration Pillar” by Sh.Ravi Kesar and Sh.O.P. SRIJAN, Translation Workshop begans at Udhampur College

“Translation is not something to be taken off hand or a stepney to regular teaching; it is a serious subject that needs to be talked in the right perspective” said Prof. Prakash Premi, epic writer, poet, critic and a versatile personality of Udhampur, while acting as the resource person in the One-week workshop on translation titled ‘SRIJAN’: A Step Towards Creation; at Government Degree College, Udhampur, held in collaboration with Dogri Sanstha, Jammu. He further said that with the burgeoning of information and knowledge, the stress upon language as a tool or medium of communication has immensely widened, while enlighting the students with his multi-lingual knowledge and versatility as a writer. The workshop commenced with Prof. Naresh Sharma, Coordinator workshop, Head Department of English presenting the welcome address. Prof (Dr.) Nutan K.Resutra, Principal of the College was the Chief Guest. Dr. Rusutra called upon the students to take this workshop seriously and not as a course work, since it opens new vistas for their academic and professional growth. He further said that while translating something, it is very important to maintain the spirit which should never get lost in jugglery of words. He congratulated the staff for holding this workshop that was being conducted for the first time, as a part of the curriculum for undergraduate as also PG. students of Departments of English and Hindi, the aim of workshop being enhancement of language skills of the students. Dr.Uday Bhanu, Head Department of Mathematics was the guest of honour of the said workshop. He said that we Indians deal with translation in our day to day life and some amount of command upon it will help the students to grow by leaps and bounds. Dr. Kamaldeep Kour, Assistant professor of the college, presented a detailed account of seven days workshop with all its objectives and learning outcomes. Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Assistant professor, presented key note about translation as a skill viz-a-viz academic and professional perspectives. Dr.Yash Pal Raina, Head Department of Dogri of the college, chaired the session wherein he in his interactive lecture went into detail about the history of translation and its relevance in the present contemporary world. There was also an activity session on translation from English/Hindi to Dogri and vice versa. A heritage Volunteer Training Workshop was organized by INTACH Jammu Chapter in collaboration with Heritage Club of Govt. Degree College Udhampur under the aegis of Heritage Education and Communication Services Division (HECS) of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, New Delhi. The objective of the workshop was to orient the youth to work for the promotion of the cultural heritage through the Heritage Clubs of their respective institutions. Heritage volunteers and teachers from Govt. Degree College Majalta, Govt. College for Women Udhampur , Bhaskar Degree College and the host college participated in the Workshop. The workshop was inaugurated by Sh. Hemant Kumar Sharma, IAS (Retd.) former Divisional Commissioner Jammu. In his inaugural address he urged upon the students to understand the objective of INTACH to spread awareness regarding preservation of tangible and intangible forms of Heritage. “You are the architects of future India and your orientation for the cause of culture is of prime importance. To make a meaningful future it is important to integrate the traditions and technology. Learning from the past shall be facilitating,” he added. Sh. Ashok Kumar, KAS, Additional District Development Commissioner Udhampur presided over the valedictory session. In his valedictory address, he shared his experiences of working on the heritage of Mughal Road. “We explore many marvels when we endeavor to unveil our past. Heritage tourism has a wide potential in the state and youth can play a vital role in this direction,” he said. Earlier the programme began with lighting of traditional lamp by the dignitaries. Resutra, the Principal of the host college, in his welcome address reiterated his commitment to work tirelessly for the cause of heritage and culture through the college club which has been organizing various awareness activities since its inception in 2010. “Today the entire world suffers from the issue of identity. It is important to get connected to roots. Students have a great potential for learning and it is our duty to provide platform for learning through interactions with the experts in the field of culture,” he added. Ms. Shiva Rawat, Programme Officer and Mr. Abhishek Das from HECS conducted the first technical session of the workshop. Ms. Rawat gave a detailed account of the vision of INTACH and its functioning through a short documentary. She discussed the importance of volunteerism for the preservation and promotion of heritage. Quoting examples from various aspects of material, built, natural, living, tangible and intangible forms, she articulated her motivational pursuance of the youth to draw them closer to the cause of culture. “ INTACH envisions harmonizing with heritage for a better life”, she added. Sh. S.M Sawhney, Convener INTACH Jammu Chapter gave a detailed presentation of various initiatives of the chapter to revive the material, built, natural and living heritage of Jammu. “We are committed to create an enlightened society with aware citizens. And this third mega workshop is another meaningful step in this direction,” he said. Prof. Shiv Nirmohi a renowned writer on various aspects of the culture of Jammu also interacted with the students. He outlined his journey of being a heritage volunteer through interactions with various scholars of India. He urged the students for a proactive approach and appreciated the host college for its unique integration of heritage and formal education. Sh. Prakash Premi, a reputed scholar of Dogri language, literature and culture in his motivational speech talked about importance of knowing about one’s place. “The myth, legends, creative expressions, cuisines, beliefs etc. constitute the myriad forms of our tangible and intangible heritage, and give us a deep peep into our past; it is important to know them,” he said while speaking on transition of Udhampur from its old to present state. Prof. Sudhir Singh Life member of INTACH and event coordinator of the workshop inspired the volunteers for speaking and promoting Dogri as an intangible living heritage. “Speak in Dogri, as much as you can, with a sense of utmost pride and pleasure,” he said. Co-convener INTACH J&K chapter deliberated upon the amplitude of natural resources in the state and said, “Our ancestors had a scientific vision and we need to decode that to rediscover our natural heritage. Our Devsthans have always worked for the convergence of nature and culture; ponds, trees and herbs are some examples,” he added. Dr. Rippy B. Billoria and Dr. Pankaj Sharma compered the programme. Enchanting Gatka Performed at GDC Udhampur

The purpose of Gatka Martial Art is the protection of the weak and not to commit atrocities all over as conveyed by S. Surinder Singh Khalsa, the organizer of today’s event held at GDC Udhampur. He added that the sole purpose of this Art is to help the youth by channelizing their energy towards their self-defense sport, and wean them away from the menace of drug abuse and other intoxicants. The Principal of the College Prof(Dr). Nutan Kumar Resutra deliberated that such events will definitely motivate the younger generation and also help to revive this dying art and perpetuate the rich legacy of Gatka amongst the future generations. During this event, Khalsa Commando Force, Gatka group, Jammu demonstrated their tremendous fighting skills using their paraphernalia. It was a highly enriching and captivating performance which kept the students and staff glued to their respective places. The other members of organizing committee were S. Dilwar Singh, Sh. One day National Seminar held at GDC Udhampur

“Everyone born after 2010 is going to live for more than hundred years, we are going to witness unimaginable changes in science when human beings will not be allowed to drive cars on highways.” These views were expressed by Prof. R.P Tandon, an eminent educationist and Head Department of Physic and Astrophysics, University of Delhi in the one day Seminar on Technology Tradition, Heritage & Culture “Concoction for Consciousness-Progression, identity formation subjectivities. Elaborating he said that Science is going to be magic and in near future everything is being going to become possible. While delivering his keynote address, Prof. R.P Tandon said that non-biological intelligence will become more capable than biological intelligence. He also warned that this will present a dreadful scenario. Prof. R. P Tandon complimented the college and administration for taking initiative for organizing this National event . J&K State Police Team Clash with GDC Udhampur Team

To have a better understanding of police force a friendly volleyball match was held between the volleyball team of Degree College Udhampur and J&K State Police Team at the Govt. Degree College, Udhampur ground. Sh.M.K. Khan Commandant 137 Bn. CRP was the Chief Guest on this occasion. The Police team comprised of J&K State players along with their coach Inspector Sajad Hussain Malik. The match commenced with Ceremonial Introduction of both the teams with the Chief Guest who was accompanied by Principal, Dr.N.K. Resutra.
The State team although being professional was given a good fight by the College team. In the best of three match series the guest team defeated the host team by winning 2 sets with 20-16 and 20-15. While addressing the players the Commandant CRP Sh.M.K. Khan lauded the efforts of College in organizing such events. He said that the college students get chiseled by competing with strong team as that of the State Level. He also said that this way by organizing such events the confidence building measures between the public and the police are strengthened. Mementoes and medals were presented by the Commanding Officer 137 Bn. CRP to the players of both the teams.

Brig. Raghu V Sadhotra Delivers a Motivational Talk at GDC Udhampur

March 15, 2019: Brig. Raghu V Sadhotra Deputy Directorate General, J&K Directorate, NCC called upon the students to became part of the Armed forces and exhibit true patriotism. During his maiden visit to the College, Brig. Sadhotra asked them to shun pseudo activities that have now became very common though Social Media and television discussions. Delivering a highly motivating lecture to students of NCC, NSS and others he lauded the role of armed forces and categorically stressed upon the fact that Indian Army is one of the most professional armies of the World that performs its duties efficiently in most challenging situation never caring about any social or religious factors. Earlier on his arrival, he was given the Guard of Honor in traditional Army style by NCC Cadets. He also planted a sapling in the College. The Principal of the College Prof(Dr). Foundation stone of GDC Neeli Nalla ,Udhampur laid

Principal Secretary to Govt. Dept. of Planning ,Development and Monitoring Sh. Rohit Kansal IAS, laid the foundation stone of Degree College at Neeli Nalla Udhampur today in presence of Dr. Piyush Singla, IAS District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Senior officers of PWD (R&B), the District Administration as well as students and staff of Govt. Degree College Udhampur the Nodal College. A large number of students who were from the catchment area were seen in jubilant mood and they said that with the opening of this College in their area, not only dropout rate will come down but they will also not be concerned about going to Udhampur Colleges, thus easing further the burden on these two existing Colleges. Various local Sarpanches, Panches and other people while expressing their views said that this College will cater to the need of higher education of inhabitants of hundred plus villages and a score of panchayat halqas. Addressing the public at the College site, Sh. Rohit Kansal said that a long pending demand of the people of the area for a degree college has been met today and Govt. is committed to take higher education to the doorsteps for everyone. He also said that it is for the first time that the Government is going to the people to take care of their needs. He further said that PWD (R&B) Department has been entrusted with the job of construction of building infrastructure of the college with all modern amenities within a stipulated time. Prof.(Dr.) Nutan Kr.Resutra ,Principal GDC udhampur and Nodal Officer Higher Education Dept. Udhampur, who coordinated the program ,said on the occasion the site selection for this institute of higher learning has been done meticulously by the Department as it happens to be the central place for its catchment area and has a good road connectivity. A lot of enthusiasm and celebration was seen among students and general public of the area on this occasion who openly expressed their indebtness to the Hon'ble Governor for conceding to their demand. With this new addition , total no. of colleges in the district has gone up to eight. It is worthwhile to mention here that very recently Governor's administration had sanctioned 50 Degree Colleges for the state to make higher education easily accessible to the people of J&K.

CU H.P seminar at GDC Udhampur

Himachal Pradesh Central University in collaboration with Govt. Degree College Udhampur organized a Seminar at GDC Udhampur which was attended by a large number of students and resource persons from Jammu and Udhampur. In this interaction cum Bain Storming session of the seminar of Central University under the ICSSR Project in which various resource persons presented their views on the theme of displacement and their personal experience related to exodus. Interaction began with the welcome note by Prof(Dr). Nutan Kumar Resutra, Principal of the College followed by his personal experience. Migrants of Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and other displaced persons shared their personal experiences recounting the trauma and hardships faced by them during the turmoil period, many of them broke down emotionally while relating their experiences. Prominent among them who presented their views included. Sh. Balraj Bakshi, Sh. Surinder Singh Khalsa, Sh. Surinder Singh Poonchi, Sh. Romesh Kapoor and Sh. O.P Gupta. 05-02-2019: Govt. Degree College organized traffic awareness rally on the occasion IG Traffic Sh. Alok Kumar, IPS was the chief guest who gave lecture on traffic rules and road safety. He emphasized upon traffic rules and avoid rash driving which leads to accidents. The rally was flagged off by IG, Sh. Alok Kumar. The motive behind organizing the rally was to develop the student as a national power to make them think about development in which road safety plays an important role. Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra, Principal of the College also emphasized on road safety measures and traffic rules. The rally started from GDC Udhampur in which the students riding bikes and scooties and other vehicles containing banners on road safety holding placards with slogans asking the people to abide by the traffic rules, a number of students of GDC Udhampur, GCW Udhampur, Bhartiya College of Education participated in the rally. NIELIT-certified Basic Training Course in Computers started at GDC Udhampur.

GDC Udhampur in collaboration with the State Council for Science and Innovations, DST Udhampur started 3 months basic training course in computer learning in which 40 students of the college from all classes and streams, who belongs to very far off areas where formal computer education is not accessible for them, got themselves registered in the said course. 01-02-2019: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu in collaboration with Govt. Degree College Udhampur organized a multilingual Mushaira in the College Conference Hall today in which about 30 litterateur including Poets, Writers, Scholars presented their literary compositions on different themes to get accolade of the audience in the jam packed hall. Mega Placement Drive for Jio Tele Services held at GDC Udampur

A mega placement drive by Jio Tele Services held at Govt. Degree College, Udhampur on 29 th of January, 2019 in which about 90 students got themselves registered for written test out of which 49 students qualified written online test and moved to the next level of recruitment process i.e. Viva and Personality Test. Finally 30 students got selected for undergoing training for Jio Sales officer and Jio Point Assistant Manager. 28-01-2019: District level Youth Parliament Session for District Uhampur under National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 was organized in the conference hall of Govt. Degree College Udhampur today in which more than fifty youth parliamentarians between the age group of 18-25,drawn from various colleges, universities and other institutes of the district deliberated on various themes as had been chosen by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Sh.Narendra Modi.Mr.Balwant Singh Mankotia Former MLA Udhampur, Prof. Shiv Nirmohi, an eminent educationist and litterateur ,Dr. Udhey Bhanu HoD Mathematics, Prof. Suresh K. Dogra HoD Physics, Prof. B.L Raina and Mr.Pardeep Gupta ,a distinguish police officer adjudged the presentations of the youth parliamentarians. Mr. Jasvir Singh, Ms. Sonali Ms. Shazia Manhas Ms. Shivi Badyal and Ms. Shiviya Vasishth got adjudged as the best in the competition and advanced to the next level of the competition to be organized at the state level.
Earlier the program began with the lighting of the lamp and floral welcome of the dignitaries followed by formal welcome address by Prof.(Dr.) N.K.Resutra, Principal of the college. In his welcome speech Dr.Resutra said highlighted the importance of the program and expressed his gratitude to the guests for having spared their valuable time to grace the occasion. We should always be grateful to Mother Nature for having blessed us with all such natural resources that make us survive healthy, he added. Plant species that were presented to the College include “Ephedra”, “Petrea”, “Brugmansia” (Bada Datura), “Budleja” etc. During his interaction with the students of Botany Department he expressed his satisfaction over the infrastructure and the kind of upgraded labs being provided to the students. Dr. Sharma further said that without practical we cannot achieve meaningful learning in Sciences and for this good labs are always needed, which the College has got in the recent years. Reminiscing his College days, he remembered all his College teachers and said that all have contributed immensely in my learning and sometimes he becomes very nostalgic about his College time. 17-01-2019: The three day walk in screening for District level Mock Youth Parliament organized by the designated institution, Govt. Degree College Udhampur started today and will conclude on 19 th January, 2019. Principal of the College Prof(Dr). Nutan Kumar Resutra stressed the youth to strengthen the roots of democracy, inculcate hearing habits of discipline, tolerance of the view of the others. Objective of conducting District Level Mock Youth Parliament is to familiarize students with parliamentarian functioning and language use in the legislature. 24-12-2018: Sh. Pawan Kumar Guptra, Hon’ble MLA (former), Udhampur and Dr. Yogeshwar Gupta, Hon’ble, Chairman Udhampur Municipal Council laid foundation stone of “Rain Water Harvesting System’ in the Botanical Garden of the College today. Program began with laying of foundation stone by the dignitaries in the Garden followed by a formal welcome address by Prof(Dr). Nutan Kumar Resutra, Principal of the College. Expressing his gratitude to the dignitaries Prof. Resutra, said that College has devised three pronged strategy to enhance College infrastructure and assets for the augmentation of quality education to the students Dr. Resutra also asserted that he has got tremendous human resource in the College which shall definitely help in march towards achieving excellence in academic as well as other activities for the holistic education to the students. Lauding the initiatives of the Principal and his team. Sh. Pawan Gupta said that it is really the dire need of the hour to conserve every drop of water. He further said that we must give back to Mother Nature what we get from it. He also assured the College administration of all help and support in every kind of endeavor. Dr. Yogeshwar Gupta, the guest of honor, on the occasion also highlighted the role of educational institution in spreading awareness among the masses for conserving Mother Nature. Emphasizing the need to conserve water he said that installation of ‘Rain Water Harvesting System’ should be made compulsory for every Govt. and Private Institutions as well as residential houses, he added. Earlier, Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, HoD Botany briefed the gathering about the importance and utility of harvested rain water for the Botanical Garden. A new kind of ecosystem shall come up in place within 2-3 years which would be of great educative value to the students of the College, he added. Saplings of Neem Tree were also planted in the College Vatika by the dignitaries. Sh. 117 Inf Bn TA, delivered a motivational talk on 'How to Join Territorial Army'

3 Nov, 2018. Udhampur: A motivational talk on the 'How to join Territorial Army' was delivered today at the Conference Hall of Government Degree College by Lt. Ashok Kumar of 117 inf Bn of TA Udhampur. All the NCC Cadets along with other students of the college attended the talk. He elaborated on the aspects of TA and the eligibility criterias to join the Territorial Army. Capt. Onkar Singh who was also present on the occasion answered the doubts and queries of the NCC cadets. Prof.(Dr.) Udhay Bhanu, Principal, GDC Udhampur, talked about the need and importance of imparting such talks on regular intervals to motivate and encourage the students, which would inturn be beneficial for their future endeavours. ‘National Unity Day observed by NSS & NCC Units of GDC Udhampur

31-10-2018: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Iron man of India. NSS and NCC volunteers of GDC Udhampur observed National Unity Day in the College Conference Hall today. Celebration begin with the paying of floral tributes to Sardar Patel by the Principal of the College Dr. Udhey Bhanu and other faculty members followed by an elaborated speeches of the life and achievement of the Sardar Patel by different speakers. In his presidential address Dr. Bhanu highlighted the role of Sardar Patel in the organization of India to its present form. Sardar Patel has remained the great political figure and luminary of his time in the the political history of the nation, he added. Earlier in the morning volunteers took part in the race “Run for Unity” which began form the College premises and culminated at Subash Stadium Udhampur. GDC Udhampur conducted Industrial visit

16-10-2018 GDC Udhampur conducted industrial visit at Battal Billian, Industrial Enclave Udhampur. Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences) and Prof. Sajad Ahmed Dar (Asstt. Lecturer EVS) accompanied the students from different streams of Sem V on this visit .It is pertinent to mention here that such kind of visits are imperative for the overall awareness of the students regarding the repercussions of incessant industrial explosion vis a vis its impact on the health of our environment. Earlier in the morning worthy Principal of the College Dr. Udhey Bhanu flagged off the students on this visit and emphasized on the accompanying staff to help students materializing this visit with the expertise of the officials deputed by the DIC Udhampur and industrial managers. Mr. Sartaj Singh (Industrial Promotion Officer) from DIC Udhampur Coordinated the whole Industrial tour in a lively way ensuring students involvement . Mr. Mohit Aggarwal (Manager of UMA-Cements) and Mr. Dalip Sachan (Chief Chemist) welcomed the students and staff of the College and they both highlighted and discussed various aspects of pollution and highlighted various control devices being installed in UMA Cements Industries. A Survey conducted by GDC Candidate Udhampur to felicitate ASER-2018

09-10-2018 A Survey was conducted by the candidates of GDC Udhampur to felicitate Annual Status of Education Report-2018. The initiative was taken by GDC Udhampur with the certitude of adorable Principal of the College Dr. Udhey Bhanu in collaboration with PRATHAM an NGO. More than 60 volunteer students pioneered a survey based on three days training imparted to them by Master trainers from the Pratham. The responsibility was shouldered and shared by Prof. Kaku Ram, Department of BBA who coordinated the whole event from motivating the students and finally imparting the students the practical lesson of conducting surveys. The students during their training programme were given refreshment and for conducting survey they were paid in monetary terms. The students conducted survey in different spares of District Udhampur by visiting different schools and household in far flung villages by gathering first hand data of the real picture of education and literacy in rural India. The students shared this information with coordinator and worthy principal and were paved towards the righteous courage. The students reported the facts and figures with this conclusion that the studies disseminated to students in rural villages are not upto marks as it lacks teachers presence, parents awareness., societal-defaults and so on. The survey was conducted for one week. The students who participated in survey were distributed certificates by the adorable principal and the coordinator. GDC Boys Udhampur brought laurels under “Swachchta Hi Seva” compaign.

GDC Boys Udhampur brought laurels by participating in District competition under “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign held in Mansar on 30- 09-2018. The students of the College participated in numerous activities especially exhibition and painting and brought laurels by winning 3 rd prize, best innovation prize and participation prize. The Principal of the College, Dr. Udhey Bhanu exhibited the students with pat on the back and appreciated them, by encouraging them to go ahead and come up with more competencies and innovations. Prof. Poonam Kundan (HoD, EVS) and Prof. Sajad Ahmed Dar encouraged the students and paved the stout way to become competent and enthusiastic all the times. They have shown rich interest to cater to new innovative means of disseminating the Environmental Sciences knowledge. The students have prepared various artifacts under best out of waste and had demonstrated the true cognition of the essence of waste management. The students even divulged painting wherein they presented how to manage waste problems by adopting segregation at source and by 3Rs (Reduse, Reuse and Recycle). The District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Sh. Ravinder Kumar along with Assistant Commissioner , Sh. Noor Alam distributed the prizes amongst the Colleges and stimulater the students of College to practically implement “Swachchta Hi Seva” as they are future generations and can connect the community into bright future ahead. Symposium on “Relevance of Truth and Non-Violence in Modern Era” held at GDC Udhampur

29-09-2018: On the 3 rd day of Special Summer Camp, NSS & NCC units of the College organized a symposium on the topic “Relevance Of Truth And Non- Violence In Modern Era”. In which 16 NSS volunteers presented their views on the given topic. Prof(Dr). Udhey Bhanu, Principal of the College presided over the function and Prof. Sumiksha Thakur of Dept. of Botany and Prof. Shonima Malhotra of Dept. of Sociology performed as member jury. In the symposium NSS Volunteer Mr. Nitish Sharma of B.Sc. sem-V bagged 1 st prize while Ms. Priyanka Thakur and Ms. Mousam Kumari of B.Sc. Sem-I got 2 nd and 3 rd prize respectively. Workshop on “Tourism Entrepreneurship for Peace and Development in J&K” held at GDC Udhampur, Sept 22:

One day workshop on entrepreneurship development program was organized under the aegis of ICSSR project titled "Tourism Entrepreneurship For Peace Building in Jammu and Kashmir” in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute and GDC Udhampur. The resource persons during the workshop were Dr Manik Arora, Assistant Professor, School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, University of Jammu and Vaibhav Sharma, CEO- "TravelersDost" and "The Himalayas 360". The objective of the workshop was to emphasize upon inculcating entrepreneurship skills among the students and build a robust entrepreneur ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. Prof. (Dr), Udhay Bhanu, Principal, Government Degree College, Udhampur welcomed the organizing team and exhorted the students to take entrepreneurship as employment option. He said the time has come where country needs the employment generators than the employment seekers. Dr. Suvidha Khanna , Assistant Professor, SHTM, University of Jammu and Project Director, ICSSR project, emphasized upon the relevance of tourism entrepreneurship in the overall peace building in the state.   She stressed that the students should develop the vision to be entrepreneurs, especially in the arena of tourism.This workshop will create an impact and induce the potential entrepreneurs to start at young age. 12-09-2018:-An orientation programme today is conducted in GDC Udhmapur pertaining to Indian Post Payment Bank. The Bank Manager of District Udhampur, Mr. Amit Sharma with territory officer Mohd. Firdous Oriented the staff and students of the College regarding the bank and the various services imperted the bank. The faculty of the Bank were welcomed by the eminent Principal of the College Dr. Udhey Bhanu. The personnel disseminated the true sense of opening bank account with Indian Post Payment Bank as they instructed that students would be benefited out of bank account opening as it givens meager formalities and frequent account opening. A total number of 800 plus students were oriented in the College and were motivated to open bank account as they would be inculcated the habit of savings and bank digitalization at the very beginning of College life. The banking personnel opened the account of worthy Principal of the College (Dr. Udhey Bhanu). Both Teaching and non teaching staff of the college honoured Dr. Magotra in an impressive function organized the college conference hall. President CTA Jammu wing Prof.D.S.Manhas and executive members of the CTA presidium also honoured the retiring principal and congratulated him on the successful completion of his service career. Senior faculty members of the college counted and highlighted his achievements during the service. Dr.Udhey Bhanu HoD Mathematics and Staff Secretary of the college coordinated the proceedings of the farewell function .

Inaugural seminar on ‘Swachh Bharat Fortnight’held at GDC UDHAMPUR:

Udhampur August 02,2018:. NSS units of GDC Udhampur today organized one day seminar on issues of ‘Swachhta’ in the college conference hall today in which Dr.Udhey Bhanu Principal (acting) of the college was the chief guest and Prof.Suresh Kumar Dogra (Former NSS Programme officer of the collge) acted as main speaker .Large no. of students of the college actively participated in the seminar and took ‘Swachhta Shapath’(oath).Prof.Dogra in his address to the students stressed upon the need of cleanliness in and around the college campus to create desired ambience for the effective teaching learning process in the college. Dr. Udhey Bhanu also exhorted upon the students to play their role in spreading awareness among the masses on Bharat Swachhta Abhiyan started under the stewardship of Hon’ble Prime minister of India. Refering to importance of the personal hygiene, Dr. Bhanu said unless and until we are physically fit we cannot exploit maximum of our potential in our march towards our goal of life.Programme concluded with the ‘Swachhta Shapath’(oath). Gandhi Global Family, Honors Principal, GDC Udhampur. 28-07-2018:

Gandhi Global Family Jammu chapter honored Principal of GDC Udhampur Dr. S. K. Magotra by presenting him United Nation connect Pin in the College Conference Hall today. In a very simple function organized by the Gandhi Global Family, Padam Shri. Dr. S.P. Verma and founder of the Gandhi Global Family, Dr. Taran Singh presented the UN Pin to Dr. Magotra. Speaking on the occasion Dr. S.P Verma counted the accomplishment of Dr. Magotra a distinguished Professor of Chemistry and as a College Principal. He also refered to the attributes of a great teacher and father of Dr. Magotra, Lt. Sh. Ram Charan Magotra, Mr. Verma spoke at length on the aims and objective of the Gandhi Global Family and relevance of Gandhian Philosophy of non violence in attaining global peace. Earlier Dr. Magotra in his welcome address expressed his gratitude, to Gandhi Global Family for bestowing this great honor …by presenting UN Connect Pin. He assured the gathering that he is staunch follower of Gandhian principles of non- violence. Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra, HoD Physics coordinated and conducted the proceedings of the programme. Students felicitation ceremony held and GDC Udhampur 27-07-2018: GDC Udhampur organized felicitation ceremony to honor the meritorious students in the college conference hall today. Sh. Pawan Kumar Gupta, Hon’ble MLA Udhampur and Sh. O.P Sharma Vidyarathi, IFS, Director, Department of Environment, Ecology, and Remote Sensing, J&K Govt. were the Chief Guest and guest of honour respectively. Program begin with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries followed by the formal welcome speech by the Principal of the College Dr. S.K. Magotra. Expressing great satisfaction on the academic achievement of the students who brought laurels and academic distinctions to the college by dint of their hard work and sincere efforts he also congratulated the staff members who guided the students in their preparation for earning these positions in the University Result speaking on the occasion Sh. Pawan Kumar Gupta congratulated the students, teachers and their parents for such academic excellence while advising the students of 1 st Semester follow the footprints of their seniors to continue with such academic distinctions of the College. Sh. O.P Sharma Vidyarathi while addressing the students said that students should make use of both halves of their brain to become extraordinary by way of developing logical and innovative skills. Later dignitaries also inaugurated the museum cum lab of the Zoology Department which is upgraded under the Star College Scheme of DBT and also planted two sapling of Royal Palm in the College “Vatika” to mark the Vanmahautsav-2018.

NCC Cadets GDC Udhampur perform Nukkad Natak

Udhampur, July 07: the 2 nd J&K Girl Bn. NCC of GDC, Udhampur performed Nukkad Natak today as a part of Swachhta Summer Internship on the theme “Clean India Green India” to create awareness regarding importance of hygiene and cleanliness at Omara, the village adopted by the Girls NCC wing of the College. Prof(Dr). S.K. Magotra, Principal of the College appreciated the efforts of the cadets and said “It is social responsibility which should be adopted by all. This type of work which is done without any personal motives of monetary gains make a respectable rapport of a person in the society”. In addition to this, the cadets conducted several door-to-door visits and organized various other activities with the active participation of the general public. Lt. Kamaldeep Kaur, ANO NCC Girls of the College accompanied the Cadets.


NCC Cadets of GDC Udhampur help the villagers to create Composit Pits Friday, 6 July 2018:

In pursuance of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, the NCC girl cadets of GDC Udhampur led cleanliness campaign in the Omara, village adopted by the college NCC unit. Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Magotra, Principal, GDC Udhampur, said that the campaign is an effort to promote good health and hygiene practices. Accordingly the NCC Cadets have been crusading to sensitize the citizens about safe sanitary practices and Solid Liquid waste management. While doing so is a fun learning methods like street plays, the NCC cadets reached out to the people bringing out a behavioural change in them. The cleanliness drive emphasized on the belief that adoption of hygiene habits will lead to creation of a healthy India. Lt. Kamaldeep Kaur, ANO NCC Girls, GDC Udhampur, accompanied the cadets and appreciated their efforts.
