Under the Semester system, introduced by the University of Jammu, the 3 year B.A/B.Sc/ BCA/ BBA/ B.COM Degree Programme shall be spread over 6 semesters, with 2 semesters in each year. The evaluation of each course shall contain two parts: Internal or In Semester Assessment (IA) and External or End-Semester Assessment (EA). Internal Assessment is done by College whereas external examination is conducted by University. Each theory paper shall be of 100 marks, 20% of which shall be reserved for internal assessment and 80% shall be reserved for External Examination to be conducted by the University.
Theory
Part A: Total weightage to this part shall be 50% of internal assessment marks, i.e., 10% of the total marks or 10 marks out of 20 marks reserved for internal assessment. It will have eight short questions selecting at least three from each of the two/three units (50% of syllabus) covered. A candidate has to attempt any five and each question carries 2 marks.
Part B: Total weightage to this part shall be 50% of internal assessment marks, i.e., 10% of the total marks or 10 marks out of 20 marks reserved for internal assessment. It will have two Long answer type questions selecting one each from first two units (50% of syllabus) covered. A candidate has to attempt any one question and the question shall carry 10 marks.
Practicals
  50% marks in practical's are reserved for internal assessment including 5 marks allotted for attendance and 50% for external assessment.
   Internal assessment of students shall be made on the basis of his/her attendance and daily performance on a three point scale for which a student can earn a maximum of 15 marks at the end of the academic session. In addition to this, an internal assessment test carrying eight marks and viva voce of 2 marks is conducted towards the close of the session, as per the schedule give in the Institutional Calendar.
   External assessment of students in practicals shall be made on the basis of his / her performance in practical paper (20 marks) and viva voce (5 marks) to be conducted by external examiner.
Note: - For being eligible to appear in the examination, student is required to have 75% of attendance in each theory paper and 30 sessions’ attendance in the practicals of each science subject. Those falling short of attendance in either or both are not allowed to sit in the examination.
