GDC UDHAMPUR CELEBRATES NSS DAYÂ
Nss units of Govt Degree College Udhampur today celebrated Nss Day with great enthusiasm and dedication. It was organised by Dr Rippy Bawa and Dr Ajay Sharma, the Nss Programme Officers of the college under the overall supervision of the principal of the college, Prof. (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta. About 150 volunteers from 1st, 3rd and 5th semesters participated in the one day event. Â
The programme initiated with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the principal Prof Romesh Kumar Gupta accompanied by the Nss POs and other faculty members of the college. It was followed by a display of a documentary featuring all the major achievements and activities done by the Nss unit from the last two years. It was prepared by Rahul Salmotra, a senior Nss volunteer. Thereafter, Master Amandeep Singh from semester V gave a detailed speech on the Role of Nss in today’s educational scenario. This was followed by a dogri group song, dogri group dance and bhangra. All these events were managed by Nitish, Vanshika, Pankaj, Ashish, Rohit, Diwakar, the senior Nss volunteers. Â
Dr Rippy Bawa, the Nss PO, while speaking on the occasion deliberated on the contributions of Nss volunteership in making the lives of the students more disciplined and organised. She also talked about the significance of this Day. Dr Ajay Sharma, the Nss po also apprised the students about their role in the present society as volunteers .Â
Speaking on the occasion, the principal of the college, Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta made the students aware about their role as nation builders. He also talked about the grave issue of drug addiction amongst the youth and how Nss needs to play it’s role in eradicating this evil from society. At the end, he appreciated the Nss volunteers and the Nss POs for their immense hardwork they put in for the celebration of this Day. Vote of thanks was given by Dr Pankaj Sharma, Assistant Professor Department of English.Â
The programme concluded with Rashtriya Gan and distribution of refreshment amongst the students.
