ENVIRONMENT DAY 5 TH JUNE 2020
Govt. Degree College for boys Udhampur, today organized and celebrated world environment
day 2020. The adorable principal of the college Prof. Subhash Chander recognized and affirmed
the celebration of the auspicious day by rendering a sanguine approach towards the environment.
The valour of the Head of department of Environment Sciences Prof Poonam Kundan is
appreciable when she took the initiative to emulate the celebration of the world environment day.
The students of the college were intimated by the concerned HOD to plant atleast a tree on this
particular day and the students to the extent participated fully with optimistic enthusiasm. The
students at their home planted trees and reverted back to their HOD with a snap/photo of their
plantation. Prof Poonam Kundan had stimulated the students with the plea that they can
contribute on the day by exalting or by remitting poems, videos, poster makings, photographs
divulging the need to conserve and to care for the environment which is so crucial for the present
and future generations to come. Prof Poonam addressed the students online that they should
further disseminate this message of planting trees or plants or contributing in any of the ways to
their neighbourers and their entire network to take a vow to plant trees or at least vow to not
damage the environment. The basic theme was to arrest damage to the environment. The students
were flabbergasted and were extolled by the worthy Principal and HOD of the department of
Environmental sciences. The faculty of Environment sciences encompassed with Prof. Poonam
Kundan, Sonia Sharma and Shashi Devi were chuffed to have this occasion celebrated amid the
pandemic COVID-19, though challenge, but proved and done by the students and the faculty of
Environment sciences.
