GSI Presents Rare Rock/Mineral and Fossil specimens to GDC Udhampur

“The future of students is fully secured with attracted Pay package with GSI” said Sh. Dinesh V. Ganvir, Deputy Director General GSI, while interaction with students and staff at Degree College Udhampur. The Deputy Director General had visited the College in connection with giving away the rare specimens of fossils, rocks and minerals to the College. He further said that the Department will be conducting field surveys and other academic activities of College students so that they get practical training. He also said that the students of Geology have great future with GSI in getting attractive pay packages. He also lauded the role of officers of Department who are working in extreme conditions rendering various services to the people of the UT. Earlier he was received by Principal of the College Dr. Nutan Kumar Resutra who took him to the Department of Geology. He was happy to see the apparatus, models and samples and highly appreciated the work and function of the Geology Department and its faculty. More than 20 samples were presented by the GSI to the College. Other Senior faculty members were presented including Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Dr. Babu Lal Thakur, Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra, Prof. G. R. Verma, Prof. Rajan Bharti, and Prof. Ravi Sharma. He also visited the Department of Sericulture where he had glance of Raw Silk Cocoons of different varieties and decorative items prepared from Cocoons, prepared by students of the College and appreciated the work done by the particular Department.
