GDC UDHAMPUR IN COLLABORATION WITH JKP UDHAMPUR AND JK PUBLIC SCHOOL UDHAMPUR ORGANIZES NASHA MUKT ABHIYAAN


Gdc Udhampur in Collaboration with Jk police Udhampur , Jk public school Udhampur and the Aayush dept. organised an anti drugs awareness campaign under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan. It was organised in the premises of Jk public school Udhampur. The event was an collective effortof the Nss unit of the college guided by Dr RippyBawa under the aegis of the principalProf Dr RomeshKumarGupta, the police dept. under the supervision of the SSP Udhampur, Dr Vinod Kumar (IPS ), JKPublic school Udhampur principal, S Manender Singh Bawa , and DrShameem(MO) from the Ayush dept.

The programme initiated with the lighting of the traditional lamp by all the dignitaries present accompanied by Saraswati vandana. Thereafter there was an interactive session of the students in which there was an elaborate discussion on Drugs, their abuse, role of society and family in curbing this menace, and how to deal with the addicts to bring them back to normal. The resource persons involved in the interactive session were Dr Shameem, Dr Rippy Bawa, Dysp Shahid Akhter, Manender Singh, Dr Priya Ratta. After that, there was a yoga session conducted by Dr Jyoti Sharma and Dr Niroshi Sharmawherein they demonstrated all the basic asanas to the students. Following the Yoga session the Nss volunteers from Gdc udhampur performed a skit titled Nasha- Ek Abhishaap in which about ten volunteers participated. It was prepared by Vishal Roudhan, Amandeep Singh and Rahul salmotra, all students of Semester 4 of the college. The skit portrayed the harmful and lethal effects of drugs and how drugs make the life of an addict hollow Amandeep Singh and Vishal Roudhan gave the message of adopting a healthy and positive lifestyle and how we should addict ourselves with better things like hardwork, love for nation, respect for parents and elders etc. A pledge for Nasha Mukti was also taken by raising the slogan of “ Say No to Drugs and Yes to Life.”

Towards the end of the programme, the chief guest, SSP Udhampur, Dr Vinod Kumar( IPS ) spoke on the occasion and sensitized the students of the school and college about the immense need of understanding the life threatening mechanism of drug addiction. He also gave them the message of leading a pure life of love, respect and responsibility to become respectable citizens of the world. He also applauded the college and school authorities for a very useful depiction of the true face of drug addiction. At last the event concluded with rashtra gan.The participants were given refreshment too by the school management.
