GDC Udhampur organizes District Level Declamation, On Spot Painting and Quiz Competitions in Commemoration to Gandhi Jayanti

In commemoration to the Gandhi Jayanti 2022 Celebrations of the JKUT Government, the Govt. Degree College Udhampur organized Declamation, On the Spot Painting and Quiz Competitions under the aegis of Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Kaal.
The events were organized by Dr Pankaj Sharma, convenor AKAM Cell and Dr Rippy Bawa, NSS PO of the college under the overall patronage and supervision of the Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta and coordination of Prof. Babu Lal Thakur, Dr. Naresh Sharma and Prof. Imtiaz Shahid.
Dr. S.K Magotra former Principal GDC Udhampur, Principal (Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur at Present) and Sh. Prakash Premi, Sahitya Akademi awarded Writer, Translator and Orator were the special guests as well as the members of jury on the declamation event.
In his message the patron and Principal of the college Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, congratulated the organising teams and all coordinators for the meticulous organising of the event. He said that the college is a hub of all activities, be it academics or other than that, which caters to the holistic development of the students and the staff even as per NEP-2020. He accentuated to follow the principles of Gandhiji in letter and spirit in order to grow as a nation.
Prior to this The programme started with the lighting of the traditional lamp by all the dignitaries present along with the Deep-Vandana. Thereafter, the participants and the audience were formally welcomed by Prof. Babu Lal Thakur in which he also threw light on the proceedings of the event and also informed about the divisonal and UT Level contests for the winners of todays events.
Dr. Pankaj Sharma coordinated the proceedings of the inaugural also gave a brief sketch of the various events organised vis-Ã -vis their rules and regulations for the participant.
A documentary on the Life and contribution of Gandhiji was also shown to all present on the ocassion.
In the different events organised in a single day, all The seven colleges of district Udhampur Viz. GDC Basantgarh, GDC Chenani. GDC Majalta, GDC Ramnagar, GDC Neeli Nallah, GCW Udhampur and the host college GDC Udhampur participated in the above mentioned competitions with great zeal and zest. There was a neck-to- neck competition in all events. The three events were organised at three different locations.
The Declamation contest on the topic ‘Relevance of Truth and Non-Violence in Modern World†was coordinated by Prof. Babulal Thakur. Dr. S.K Magotra, Sh, Prakash Premi and Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri were the Jury members for the event. Prof. Sanjeet Singh and Dr Jasmeet Kaur compiled the results. The first, second and third positions were clinched by Mr. Vishal Rai Roudhan of GDC Udhampur, Amandeep Singh from GDC Udhampur and Parveen Akhtar from GDC Chenani.
In the On-spot Painting Competition Nikhil Kumar GDC Udhampur Grabbed the first position while Rohini Thakur from GDC Ramnagar and Sayma from GCW Udhampur had to take respite with Second and third position. The event was coordinated by Prof Imtiaz Shahid, adjudged by Prof Reena Bhagat, Dr Rozy Bamba, and Prof. Sarita Parihar. Dr Richa Sharma and Prof Asha Sohil compiled the results.
The Quiz competition was taken care by Dr. Naresh Sharma as convener was adjudged by Prof Samta Sharma, Prof Sanjay Kumar, Dr Firdoos Ahmed Ittoo, Dr Vipul Chalotra and Dr Swarn Singh. The questions were based on the life and philosophy of Gandhiji. The Team of GCW Udhampur consisiting of Ms. Kriti Sharma and Neha Sharma stole the show as winners of the event.
The event was concluded with the valedictory session in which the bureau of all the proceedings and various categories of competitions was presented by Dr Rippy Bawa, Afterwhich the certificates were distributed amongst all the winners and participants.
The programme was attended Dr. Sunil K. Bhat, Prof. Kamal Kishore, Dr. Ved Kumar, Prof. Satish Kumar, Dr. Ajay Sharma, Prof. Samosh Kumar alongwith a large gathering of staff of the host as well as participating colleges and the students of the host and the participating colleges.
After this Dr. Pankaj Sharma tendered the formal vote of thanks to all present .
The end of the programme was marked by Rashtriya Gaan followed by sumptuous refreshment.
